  • The Master of Public Health Degree Program (MPH) was developed in response to the nation’s call-to-action for improved health opportunities for all with focuses on local, state, regional, and global needs. This M.P.H. Program offers two courses of study – Environmental Health and also Agricultural Epidemiology. Both concentrations prepare students to identify problems and propose solutions to a variety of environmental conditions that affect the health of minority, rural, and disadvantaged populations at disproportionate rates as well as agricultural populations. Environmental linkages between high morbidity rates due to heart disease (i.e., hypertension and stroke), cancer, and diabetes in conjunction with Healthy People 2020 will be assessed. Adverse environmental factors such as livestock rearing, farming practices, food handling, and industrial contaminants will be studied with sensitivity to cultural, regional, and ethnic differences.
