The Mass Media Production concentration is for students who want to operate “behind the scenes,” creating programs for educational, corporate and governmental presentation. Their work also would be distributed via radio, television, satellites, cable, the Internet, CDs, DVDs and memory cards. After completing the Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communication with a concentration in Mass Media Production, students have many options. They may work at radio or television stations, or companies creating programs for radio or television stations, corporations, and community and government agencies. They also may work in advertising or public relations firms that promote companies and their products, services or relationships.

Students majoring in Multimedia Journalism will take courses that will prepare them to work in the newsrooms of the 21st century. Tomorrow's journalists will need to master a growing variety of skills in order to produce and distribute content via mobile devices and across extensive platforms. For starters, you'll learn traditional print journalism techniques and multimedia journalism techniques that will teach you how to write for the web. You'll learn how to shoot, edit and post digital stills, audio and video for the web using a variety of free or low-cost software. From there, you'll take courses in website design and video production and editing courses using professional equipment, all geared toward creating and posting content for the web. You'll also take courses in media law and ethics so that you'll learn what you can and can't do legally and ethically related to how you report stories.
